Corona Virus Update #1

Welcome back to school... the online version! I hope this writing finds you and your loved ones all well! These are unprecedented times we are living in, and I encourage all of you to stay at home and take care of yourselves and your families. I know it's boring and the urge to go see your friends- even the ones down the road or across the street- is strong. However the way this thing spreads is sneaky, and while you or your friends may not even feel sick, you can pass this on to your parents or grandparents pretty easily. The effects for them won't be as mild and may require them to stay in a hospital; also it will extend the amount of time we all have to go through this. Just stay home and be glad you have social media and facetime to fall back on- us old folks didn't have that "back in the day".

So what does all this mean for band? Assuming we get back in school on April 1 (which I am hopeful for but not optimistic about) here's the break down of what we are looking at:

April 20: We still have a concert scheduled at this moment, but that is likely to change. We may live stream it to an empty hall, or record it and send it out digitally. Lots of options on the table. Long story short, keep practicing. 6th grade, I am working on getting you some .pdfs of the music, but it's hard when I can't get in the building. More info on that coming soon.

April 25 (8th grade only): Same as above, but we may be able to push the date down.

May 2: Old Timer's Day has been officially postponed to a date TBD. No parade for us.

May 9: Holiday World. No decision made yet, but it's not looking good. If we cancel, refunds will be made available to those who have already paid.

Elementary School concerts (7th and 8th grade) are still on as of now as well.

There will be another blog post shortly as far as assignments for the extended break. Until then, stay safe and healthy.

Love you guys! I miss your faces!

Mr. J
